Despite not having customers in the shop, I have been doing quite a few recommendations over the last few weeks, both over the phone and by email (and occasionally late night Instagram message!) Two children's books that I've been suggesting regularly are The Night Bus Hero by Blue Peter award winner Onjali Q Raúf and Black and British, a non-fiction book by historian David Olusoga. My favourite go-to recommendation for adult fiction is The Glass Hotel by Emily St John Mandel, because I really believe that it's a book that would be enjoyed by anyone! Finally, two books that are on my Christmas list; The 99% Invisible City (a book about the hidden world of everyday design) and A Promised Land by Barack Obama. -Emily

It would be lovely to be recommending books face-to-face, but as that is not possible, here are my choices: Mrs Benson's Beetle for delightful writing and characters. Dear Reader - emphasising the healing powers of being immersed in a good book. This Too Shall Pass, because we all need to hear that message right now! And finally, Way Home For Wolf for reassuring us that "we're all just a handful of friendships from home" ❤️ Cathy
